Geocache Description:

The Wizarding World Geocache Series

"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their own small communities within a community."

— The secrecy surrounding the wizarding world

The Wizarding World, also referred to as the magical community, is the society in which wizards and witches live and interact, separate from non-wizarding society. The two communities are kept separate through the use of charms, spells, and secrecy. Wizards and witches are forbidden to reveal anything about magic to Muggle society due to the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, but that does not mean that the two worlds live entirely apart.

Welcome to Devon, England

Ron Weasley: "It's not much."
Harry Potter: "It's wonderful."

— Harry Potter's initial reaction to the Burrow

The Burrow, the family home of the Weasley family, located on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, England. Nestled amongst rolling hills and fertile meadows, it is so well hidden that Molly Weasley doubts that the postman even knows it exists. Other wizarding families in the area included the Diggorys, the Lovegoods and the Fawcetts.

The building itself might once have been an old stone pigpen, which had several crooked stories attached to it. Four or five chimneys dot the roof of the house, and the entire building is most likely held up by magic due to its crazy construction. It is a thoroughly magical dwelling that is a second home to Harry Potter. A barn and chicken coop stand nearby, while also a large garden in Harry's eyes, is exactly what a garden should be - there are plenty of weeds, and the grass needs cutting. There are gnarled trees all around the walls, plants spilling from every flower bed, and a big green pond full of frogs. The garden is also home to a large number of gnomes, whom the Weasley's regularly de-gnome by throwing them over the hedge.

There is also a small yard at the front of the house, with a garage that stores Arthur Weasley's flying Ford Anglia. The back garden contains a stone outhouse that the Weasley's have converted into a broom shed, and where the Weasley children keep their broomsticks during their time at home.
