Ahhh Balloon Fiesta. Loved and hated by locals. Our population doubles for one week and creates havok on our city. But we love the friendly tourist and the boost to our economy. The traffic though 😮💨😮💨

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a nine-day event in Albuquerque, New Mexico that has grown from a small gathering in 1972 at the Coronado Mall Parking Lot to the world's largest hot air balloon festival:
- 1978: The Balloon Fiesta became the world's largest ballooning event with 273 entries.
- 1986: Balloon Fiesta Park, a 365-acre launch field, opened.
- 1992–2002: Kodak sponsored the Balloon Fiesta, which had become one of the world's most photographed events.
1996- 25th anniversary and first dawn patrol show, Moved to current balloon fiesta park field
- 2000: The number of balloons registered peaked at 1,019.
