Advent Calendar 2024 Day 1: Hill Street Baptist Church, Swadlincote

This concept of an advent calendar set of church micros is unashamedly copied from a set I found in Moray, Northern Scotland. When I discovered those, I knew I had to do something similar. All of these church micros are set in South Derbyshire, although geographically the district is quite wide spread as you may have noticed from A-Z and similar caches. I created a list of candidate churches in the area; some had had church micros before but I had no qualms about "resurrecting" those. There are a couple of unusual or off the beaten track entries in the set as well just to add to interest.
Hill Street Baptist Church is a prominent building set at the eastern end of the High Street. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2016. It is built to a very traditional style of Baptist church including a gallery. There is a memorial in the front lobby to fallen congregation members in WW1 (sadly not usually accesible). There is an extensive hall and other rooms at the rear of the premises. It is home to a magnificent pipe organ which was rebuilt in 2008 using pipework from the closed Ebenezer Methodist Church in Newhall as well as some of the pipes from the Compton Organ that was formerly in Hill Street. Further details of the instruments are available on the National Pipe Organ Register. As well as regular worship services the church is also host to some major local events including an annual performance of Handel's Messiah given by the Swadlincote Messiah Choral Society.
Now to the cache, due to local cache congestion this is a simple offset multi and the final is a short walk away. A nearby telegraph pole (slightly to the right ot the church and in front of the car park) is Distribution Pole (DP) ABC. A month and year are marked on the yellow label by punched out holes, the month is D and the year EF.
The cache is at N52 46.ACE W001 33.(F/B)(D-F)(A+B). The checksum of the calculated digits is 20.
Please use extreme stealth when retrieving or replacing the cache to avoid it being muggled.

Logging Etiquette
Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
