About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breathtaking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found on the SideTracked Website.

About Roade Station

Roade railway station, on the West Coast Main Line, served Northamptonshire's Roade village. It opened in 1838 as Northampton's principal station after the main line bypassed the town. However, its role diminished in 1845 with the Northampton and Peterborough Railway's opening, offering direct services to Northampton. In 1875, Roade became a junction station with the addition of the Northampton Loop Line, and its facilities expanded. The East and West Junction Railway connected to Roade in 1891 for goods and limestone traffic, though the connection gradually declined. Roade station narrowly avoided closure in 1959 but eventually closed in 1964 after electrification works. Its remaining structures were demolished by 2013, so no traces of the station remain.
