Auch mein dritter Karpathos-Cache führt euch wieder zu einer Kapelle, der Agia-Sophia-Kapelle, die von Messochóri aus schon weit sichtbar ist, und von der aus man eine besonders schöne Aussicht hat. Zu diesem Cache führt ein schöner Spaziergang (ca. 10 Minuten). Startpunkt ist die große Panagia-Kirche im Norden von Messochóri. Rechts von der Kirche führt ein Weg aus dem Dorf hinaus, durch die Gärten von Messochóri. Nach wenigen Minuten kommt man an eine Gabelung, an der man sich links hält (Richtung Irini). Bald sieht man rechts den Friedhof liegen. Der Weg führt weiter durch terrassierte Weinberge bis zur Agia-Sophia-Kapelle, an der man wunderbar sitzen und tolle Blicke auf Messochóri und die Westküste mit der Bucht von Agia Irini genießen kann. Im Inneren, rechts vom Eingang, befindet sich eine schöne Ikone der Heiligen aus dem Jahr 1883.
My third Karpathos cache also leads you to a chapel, the Agia Sophia Chapel, which is already visible from afar from Messochori and offers a particularly beautiful view. A pleasant walk of about 10 minutes leads to this cache. The starting point is the large Panagia Church in the north of Messochóri. To the right of the church, a path leads out of the village, passing through the gardens of Messochóri. After a few minutes, you reach a fork where you keep to the left (towards Irini). Soon you will see the cemetery on your right. The path continues through terraced vineyards to the Agia Sophia Chapel, where you can sit and enjoy wonderful views of Messochóri and the west coast with Agia Irini Bay. Inside, to the right of the entrance, there is a beautiful icon of the saint dating from 1883.
