[En] The site of Les Choisinets, 5 km south of Langogne in the commune of Saint-Flour-de-Mercoire, appears for the first time in 998 in the deed of donation by Viscount Etienne de Gévaudan, under the name CAUCINUS: "In Caucino duo mansos cum appendiciis suis"
A square tower would have been the extension of a natural shelter under the butte in case of bad weather. The essential water abounds on this site. For more than a thousand years, this site has written an exceptional story that deserves to be entrusted to you :
History
The Domaine des Choisinets then appears on a list of possessions which the Lords of Randon had successively paid homage to the Bishop of Gévaudan from 1134 to 1370. In the year 1286, Odilon of the guard recognized Guillaume de Randon for all that he owned at the mas de Chauzines (Choisinets), parish of Saint-Flour-de-Mercoire.
In the 17th century, Baron Claude François de la Tour shared his residence between his lands of Les Choisinets and Paris where he served at the court of Anne of Austria. He married in 1645 with Françoise Hauterfort de Lestrange who later became lady-in-waiting to the queen. In 1646 he had a round tower built to reinforce the castle.
In 1746, the hamlet of Choisinets is the scene of the second murder attributed to the Beast of Gévaudan.
In 1848, the owner without children, Mr. Bonnefille, entrusted the place to Abbé Favier, a priest from Langogne who created an orphanage. He is supported by the Brothers of the Christian Schools who will transform the site by adding, in the middle of the nineteenth century, the large building of three floors then the church, the whole giving to the place its current configuration. Unfortunately, from 1904 onwards several fires ravaged the buildings.
The whole is in great danger also due to the fires of the early 20th century and therefore represents a danger for the external surroundings.
The associative project
At the beginning of the 21st century, the association "LE CHOISINAIT" aims to revive the site by saving it from a state of peril in order to make it available to as many people as possible.
The restoration project includes the securing of the church, made possible thanks to the BERN mission and the Departmental Council, then the securing of the existing ruins, finally the restoration of the so-called "sisters" premises and the completion of the green amphitheater.
The objective of this restoration is to allow the organization of events and the opening to a walk of the public in complete safety on the Estate, within the framework of programmed activities inside the church or on the amphitheater of greenery and with free access for walkers, the hikers of Stevenson Trail or locally organized hikes.
The site of Les Choisinets should eventually constitute a complex carrying cultural projects in concert with local communities and associative fabric.
