Number 1868 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box. The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100’ apart and the phone boxes have to be red.
Whitecross is a remote rural hamlet deceptively close to Fowey but on the opposite side of the Fowey River.
Access to Whitecross is via a short, fairly expensive car ferry from Fowey or a long drive via Lostwithiel and Lerryn.
Whitecross has an active, well appointed village hall (complete with a VH Cache) and the phone box has been converted into a Seed Swap hub which reflects the rural roots of this area.

The Cache
The headline coordinates bring you to the post box from which you need to obtain the five consecutive numerical digits and call them ABCDE
Stroll along the road to the phone box where low down on the back of the box you will find the manufacturer's details cast in three lines of text.
From this text, obtain the following numbers:
F = the number of times the letter A appears
G = the number of times the letter L appears
H = the number of times the letter O appears
CHECKSUM of A-H = 27
Substitute these values into the formula - N 50 20.E(D+A)F W 004 37.(G-H)(A+B)C
CHECKSUM of all coordinate numbers = 42
The cache is a plastic tube about 10 cms in long and 3 cms in diameter.
Please screw the cap back on firmlt to keep the lof dry.
! Please take care as the road here can get busy and traffic is often fast moving !
