A cache dedicated to Myrthman

For the 2025-26 Winter games, we were asked to place a cache in honor of a participant. We were lucky enough to draw Myrthman!
How did Myrthman get his handle? In high school, he was a fiction writer. He created a fantasy land called “My Earth” for his stories. Years later, he removed a few vowels and smerged it together to create Myrth. While his story land’s name has continued to change, he remains Myrthman in the gaming world.
Myrthman started geocaching by accident in 2014. While hiking with his young son, near San Marcos, they saw a lizard go into the base of a tree. When he tried to find it they found a medicine bottle instead. Thinking it was probably a college student’s stash, they were surprised to find a crumpled paper with names and dates on it. He had heard of geocaching so they signed the log and put it back. He went to the website and realized he was right. He found “Cactus Tree” (GCVPP2, a traditional, now archived). After that, he says "I was hooked! AJ and his brothers cache with me often, and they now all have their own accounts."
The whole family enjoys this hobby. He and his wife connected early on over geocaching, when they were dating, He was thrilled to learn she didn’t just know about geocaching but also already had an account!

The story earned his kids a cover shot on the FTF magazine and he created one of his comic strips about it. These can be found on his website along with other comic strips he has written and some of his accomplishments/experiences.

Myrthman's favorite types of caches are gadget and traditionals. He also enjoys attending events.
Though he is quite accomplished, some of his favorite accomplishments are:
-having his sons featured on the cover of FTF magazine
-cache #2000 being at Mingo
-finishing his Jasmer in October of 2024 while at Going Caching.
But there is so much more.
We celebrate Myrthman for all he does for the geocaching community
Add your stamp or signature to the log. Please Please do not take the stamp. It stays with the cache for all finders to use. (hence letterbox hybrid) Any other swag you are welcome to trade. Thanks for keeping the game fun for all and we hope you enjoy this cache. BYOP /ink
