Morecambe Harbour Station
The railway station on the Stone Jetty in Morecambe originally opened in June 1848 as Morecambe Pier station, built by the "little" North Western Railway. It served as a transport link where passengers could transfer directly from trains to steamships sailing to the Isle of Man and Ireland. The station was renamed Morecambe Harbour in 1854 but closed to passengers in September 1904 when shipping operations moved to the deeper port at nearby Heysham. Today, the original stone station building still stands on the jetty and operates as a café.
