Beaumont Boogie VIII – Luther Played the Boogie
The Beaumont Music Festival Is the longest-running music festival in Canada dedicated entirely to all-Canadian artists. Founded as the Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival in 2008, it started as a small, grassroots volunteer-run event featuring local blues, folk and roots acts on a single stage. Over the years, both the sound and the audience grew. In 2024, the festival rebranded to reflect a wider range of musical genres, evolving into a multi-day, two-stage event that now draws attendees from across Canada, still run completely by volunteers. The festIval comes to life each June, but you can boogie through Beaumont any time of year. As you explore the Beaumont Boogie geocache power trail, enjoy the scenery and soak up the rhythm of this music-loving community. 🎶

Written and recorded in 1959 by Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two, this song is a warm tribute to the musicians who hold the groove together. “Luther Played the Boogie” is widely understood as a nod to Luther Perkins, the longtime guitarist whose steady playing helped define Cash’s early sound. With its easy rhythm and conversational storytelling, the song celebrates musical simplicity and the quiet art of knowing exactly when and how to play.
