Back at it for the second time! This spring edition will be at the same place as last months as I have a meeting right before the event that I can't get out of.
I can't promise a wildlife encounter like the one in February but I can promise briney snacks, water, and comraderie!
On my recent trip to Europe I attened an event in Berlin, Germany and learned about a wonderful and unique geocaching tradition from Bergsteigermaus that I knew I had to bring back home and share with our community.
Every night in December cachers in Berlin gather to celebrate the Christmas season by holding an event where a new cache or Adventure Lab is released at midninght. During these cold evenings Gluwein (AKA hot mulled wine) is a staple.
On one of these events, getting tired of Gluwein, a cacher by the name of FrauOrientierungslos brought some pickels to share and they were a hit! So now every month on the 24th at midnight in Berlin cachers gather to share stories and pickels. Thus the Mitternachtsjurken (Berlin slang for pickle) was born. FrauOrientierungslos started this series and also organizes the monthly scheduling of the events. Every month, a volunteer is found to host the event on the 24th.
This event will take place at the same time as the one in Berlin so while it won't be midnight here, it will be over there where this event has originated!
I'll have a small assortment of pickles for those who wish to partake, but feel free to bring any you'd like to share as well.
All attendees are welcome to claim a co-FTF as well!
The parent event for this is GCBKJ52
The event will take place under the picnic shelter closest to 33rd street on the east side of the park
Be mindful when parking as many are permit parking only and parking enforcement is quick to ticket!
