Hogyan keletkezik a gránit?
A gránit a földkéreg mélyén, több kilométer mélységben keletkezik. A forró, olvadt magma rendkívül lassú lehűlése során.

Hogyan keletkezik a mészkő?
A mészkő két fő módon keletkezik:

Miután elküldted a válaszokat, azonnal bejelentkezhetsz.

The square was restored in 2002. It used to be a car park. Since autumn 2002, the square has been designated a pedestrian zone and a beautiful mosaic has been installed. This consists of various types of stone:

  • Grey granite
  • Black granite
  • Light-coloured limestone
  • Reddish limestone

What is granite?
Granites (from the Latin granum, ‘grain’) are massive and relatively coarse-grained plutonic igneous rocks rich in quartz and feldspars, but also containing dark (mafic) minerals, particularly mica.

How is granite formed?
Granite forms deep within the Earth’s crust, at a depth of several kilometres. It is formed by the extremely slow cooling of hot, molten magma. It is a so-called plutonic rock, consisting of molten rock. Through tectonic processes such as mountain formation, the magma rises, but becomes trapped and solidifies over millions of years.

What is limestone?
Limestone is a sedimentary rock consisting mainly of the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate). It is one of the most common and versatile rocks in the Earth’s crust and plays a central role in the global carbon cycle.

How is limestone formed?
Limestone is formed in two main ways:
  • Biogenic (biological)
  • This is the most common origin. It forms from the calcareous skeletons and shells of marine organisms such as mussels, snails, corals or micro-organisms (plankton). When these organisms die, they sink to the seabed and, over millions of years, are compressed into solid rock by pressure and heat (diagenesis).

  • Chemical
  • Limestone can also form through the precipitation of calcium carbonate directly from water, for example in saturated waters or near thermal springs (e.g. travertine).
To log this EarthCache, please answer the following questions and send them to my profile via the messaging portal:
  • Which rock is harder, granite or limestone?
  • Examine the structure of the reddish stones and describe it.
  • Why do you think granite and limestone were used?
  • How big do you estimate the largest individual boulders to be, and what colour are they?
  • Can you spot any fossils? If so, where? Describe them.
  • Attach a photo of yourself or a personal item to your log showing the mosaic.

Once you have sent your answers, you can log in straight away.

  • Graugranit
  • Schwarzgranit
  • heller Kalkstein
  • rötlicher Kalkstein

Was ist Granit?

Was ist Kalkstein?

    Quelle: https://smamineral.se/en/world-of-lime/the-story-of-lime/
  • Chemisch
