Aqua Reina's Lullaby
Welcome to another one of San Marcos' whimsical public art installations!
Not far from Aqua Reina, the city's beloved mermaid, you'll discover the lyrics to a traditional Spanish lullaby. This lullaby has been sung for generations and depending on who you ask, it's either a sweet bedtime song... or a gentle warning that El Cuco (the mythical boogeyman) might come for children who refuse to sleep. Every culture seems to have its own version, and this one found a permanent home here in downtown San Marcos.
While you're here, don't stop with just this piece. The downtown area is filled with creative murals, sculptures, and unique public art, making it well worth spending a little extra time exploring on foot. You never know what you'll discover around the next corner.
The hide itself shouldn't keep you awake at night... though perhaps El Cuco is watching to make sure you replace it exactly as you found it.
Please be mindful of muggles, respect the artwork, and return the container carefully so future geocachers can enjoy the hunt.
If you enjoyed discovering this artwork and exploring downtown San Marcos, I'd really appreciate a Favorite Point. They help highlight caches that offer a fun location or memorable experience and encourage others to come explore this wonderful part of town.
Sweet dreams... and happy caching!
