Geocache Description:

We will be working in collaboration with Friends of Warburton Rail Trail – Lilydale Group on their Saturday Working Bee .  This is a general working bee where we will work under instruction doing tasks such as weeding and mulching along the rail trail. This is a participatory event.

  • Please be on time for briefing starting promptly at 9:00am.
  • You should bring a hand weeding tool.
  • Also bring gloves, sturdy shoes and any wet weather gear if the day ends up being a little damp. A hat and water bottle will be useful too.

The Date is Saturday 19th September 2026

The Time is 9:00am to 10:00am.

Parking is limited, so suggest carpooling at nearby Lilydale Lake, or arrive by bicycle from Lilydale or Mt Evelyn.

This trail has a variety of caches nearby, so come and enjoy the Lilydale - Warburton Rail Trail - Lilydale end.

This CITO is part of the CITO Across the World - One Day. Many Communities. A World of Difference.

A little over 2 years ago georeyna a geocacher in Houston, TX asked a simple question - What could happen if geocachers around Texas came together on one day to make their communities cleaner?  Based on that simple question, Texas Geocaching Association (TXGA) created an event named CITO Across Texas in conjunction with World Cleanup Day.

Geocachers throughout Texas held cleanup events on the third Saturday in September. Each event is locally organized, but together they became part of something much bigger.  CITO Across Texas was born!

The results have been tremendous. During 2024 and 2025:

  • More than 50 CITO events were held across Texas.
  • More than 700 volunteers participated.
  • Thousands of pounds of trash were removed from parks, trails, waterways, neighborhoods, and other public spaces.

In 2026, we want to take the next step and we are inviting the worldwide community of geocachers to help clean up our game board.

So in Lilydale we are adding to the world wide event, hope you can join us.
