CITO Across the World - One Day. Many Communities. A World of Difference.
Saturday, September 19, 2026
Hello, fellow geocachers!
What could happen if geocachers around the world came together on one day to make their communities cleaner?
A little over two years ago Georeyna the Southeast Representative for the Texas Geocaching Association came up with the idea to organize a coordinated series of CITO ® events held in conjunction with World Cleanup Day. Geocachers throughout Texas would host cleanup events in their own communities on the same day. Each event is locally organized, but together they become part of something much bigger. CITO Across Texas was born!
The results have been tremendous. During 2024 and 2025:
• More than 50 CITO events were held across Texas.
• More than 700 volunteers participated.
• Thousands of pounds of trash were removed from parks, trails, waterways, neighborhoods, and other public spaces.
In 2026, we want to take the next step.
From CITO Across Texas to CITO Across the World
We are inviting geocachers everywhere to join us for CITO Across the World on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Our goal is to hold at least 50 coordinated CITO events across multiple states and countries during World Cleanup Day weekend. With the support of the worldwide geocaching community, we believe we can meet—and far exceed—that goal.
Imagine hundreds or even thousands of geocachers working in their own communities on the same day. Every event may be local, but together our efforts can create a truly global impact.
