Details:

Join us on 19 September 2026 as we, in association with Speedway Parks an Recreation, come together to cleanup Leonard Park and the B&O Trail!

Leonard Park is approximately 14 acres and the B&O Trail, from its path to the West (where it intersects with the Eagle Creek Greenway) and its route along the South side of Leonard Park is approximately a mile, so we have plenty of space to work!

The oranizers will provide trash bags, nitrile gloves, and water, as well as hauling the trash away after the event.

You will be responsible for bringing any other supplies such as buckets, grabbers, hand santizer, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, and any other personal items you need.

Also, feel free to bring the kids and let them enjoy the park while we pick up the litter. Leashed pets are also welcome!

While there may be trash off trail or in the woodline, the main trails are paved and wheelchair accessible, so anyone can join in making the world a little better!

Speedway Parks and Recreation will also be promoting the event on their social media channels, so if you live nearby this is also a good opportunity to meet your neighbors!

Digital Swag:

Attending the event will earn you the CITO Season 2 souvenir for your geocaching profile.

Attending the CITOAW should also earn you the September Solstice souvenir.

What is CITO Across the World?

A little over 2 years ago, georeyna, a geocacher in Houston, TX, asked a simple question - what would happen if geocachers around Texas came together on the same day to make their communities cleaner? Based on that simple question, Texas Geocaching Association (TXGA) created an event named "CITO Across Texas" in conjunction with World Cleanup Day.

Geocachers throughout Texas held cleanup events on the third Saturday in September. Each event was locally organized, but together they became part of something much bigger. CITO Across Texas was born!

The results have been tremendous. During 2024 and 2025:

  • More than 50 CITO events were held across Texas.
  • More than 700 volunteers participated.
  • Thousands of pounds of trash were removed from parks, trails, waterways, neighborhoods, and other public spaces.

In 2026, we're taking the next step and are inviting the worldwide community of geocachers to help clean up our game board!
