Event Title: 12 Months/12 Hikes – Turtle River State Park
Event Description:
Meet us near the parking area for a fun hike and talk some geocaching.
When: Sunday at 9:30am
Where: Turtle River State Park, Hollows Ridge trail, approximately 1.15 mile hike
Why: For the sixth year, the North Dakota Park & Recreation Department (NDPRD) has issued a statewide “2026 Hiking Challenge” with a fresh hiking challenge every season of 2026. To participate, just pick and hike a qualifying trail in one of the 14 state parks. You can complete your hikes all in one park or explore any of 14 locations across the state.
The North Dakota Geocaching Association (NDGCA) would like to help everyone complete their hiking challenge. To do this, we will be hosting an event in a different state park each month, so we can get together with other geocachers and hike.
What: After the fun we had during Gilby Gone Wild, we will have a going away hike in the park. Each year the NDGCA has worked with the state parks to put on 12 month 12 hike events. We will meet the parking lot, visit a bit and head out on the hike at 9:40, just in case anyone is running late. We will hike the Hollows Ridge trail. We will hike as far as the group feels comfortable depending on the weather and then return to the parking lot. I will have some refreshments and possible a door prizes when we return.
Reminders: A daily pass ($7) or annual ND state park pass ($35) is required to enter. Dress for the weather/trails
