Geocache Description:

Mescid 2004-nji ýylda tamamlandy we Merkezi Aziýadaky iň uly mesjidleriň biridir (syýahatçylyk kuwwaty: 10 000 adam). Bütin bina ýokary hilli ak mermerden gurlan, içerki bezeglerinde bolsa baý, reňkli mermer bezegleri bar.
Mermer näme?
Mermer – ýer ýüzüniň çuň gatlagynda ýokary temperatura we basyş şertlerinde ilki ýerleşdirilen kalkarly gaýalardan dörän metamorfik gaýadyr. Bu öwrülme (metamorfoza) döwründe kalsiý karbonaty (CaCO₃) täzeden kristallanýar we netijede häsiýetine görä inçe däneli, has dykyz gurluş döreýär.
Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Mescidi çylşyrymly geometrik bezegleri döretmek üçin mermeriň dürli görnüşleriniň ussatlyk bilen ulanylýandygyny görkezýär. Reňk süni boýaglardan däl-de, metamorfizm prosesi mahalynda başlangyç kalker ýatymlarynda gysylan tebigy mineral goşundylaryndan gelip çykýar; bu proses millionlarça ýyl dowam etdi.
Şeýlelikde, mermeriň her bir bloky özünde geologiki taryhy saklaýar:
Gyzyl = gadymy deňiz dibi çökelmeleriň demir oksidleri (meselem, hematit)
Ýaşyl = esasy şertlerde metamorfoza (klorit emele gelmegi, epidot)
Ak = degişli derejede üýtgemän galan arassa kalker ýatymlary
Sary/goňur = limonit (demir gidroksid) goşundylaryGöý/gara: uglerod bölejikleriniň goşundylary
Mermerdäki damarlar, mysal üçin, metamorfizm wagtynda arassa kalsit çatlaklarda we boşluklarda täzeden kristallananda emele gelýär we reňkli esasy gaýanyň fonynda aýdyň görünýär.
EarthCache loggerleri üçin wezipeler
Bu EarthCache-i üstünlikli log etmek üçin meçide baryp, aşakdaky soraglara jogap beriň:1-nji tapgyr: Mermer nusgalaryny deňeşdiriň
Iň azyndan üç dürli reňkli mermer tapyň.  Beýan ediň:
Giriş zolagynyň polunda haýsy reňk üstünlikli bolýar?
Polunda jemi näçe dürli reňk tapdyňyz? Reňkleri takyk görkez! Munuň geologik taryhy näme?
2-nji tapgyr: Damarlylygy seljeriň (gyzaryp-goňur mermer)Sütunlaryň gyzyl-göý mermer esaslaryna serediň:
Ak damarlar sütunyň ekseni boýunça haýsy ugurda gidýär?
☐ Gorizontal, tolkunly zolaklar
☐ Dik zolaklar
☐ Nädogry/garmy
☐ Az görünýän damarlar
Siziň pikirňizçe, näme üçin damarlar şu ugra gönükdirilip ýa-da umuman ugursyz bolup görünýär? (Gysga düşündiriş)
3-nji tapgyr: Ýaşyl mermer
Mäzgidde ýaşyl mermeri synlaň! Ol nirede ýerleşýär?
Onuň teksturasy ak mermerden nähili tapawutlanýar?
Ýaşyl zolaglaryň reňki deňmi ýa-da olarda has gara reňkli goşundylary barmy?
Has gara reňkli nokatlaryň geologiki sebäbi näme bolup biler?
4-nji tapgyr: Mescidiň daşyndan özüňiz görünýän suraty we içki böleginiň suratyny mescide girýän gapynyň öňünde aýaklaryňyz bilen çekip, ikisini hem ýükleň. Hasaba almaga başlamazdan ozal jogaplaryňyzy mescidiň eýesine iberiň.  Barlawyňyzy ýazmak üçin tassyklamany garaşmaly dälsiňiz – haýsydyr bir gabat gelmezlik ýüze çyksa, men habarlaşaryn. Zerur suratlar bolmadyk ýazgylar öçüriler.

The mosque was completed in 2004 and is one of the largest mosques in Central Asia (capacity: 10,000 people). The entire structure was built of high-quality white marble, while the interior features richly colored marble inlays.

What is marble?

Marble is a metamorphic rock formed from originally deposited limestone through high temperatures and pressures deep within the Earth’s crust. During this transformation (metamorphism), the calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) recrystallizes, resulting in its characteristic fine-grained, denser structure.

The Türkmenbaşy Ruhy Mosque masterfully demonstrates the use of various marble varieties to create complex geometric patterns. The coloration does not result from artificial pigments, but from natural mineral impurities that were trapped within the original limestone deposits during the metamorphosis, which lasted millions of years.

Each block of marble thus carries a geological history within it:

  • Red = iron oxides (e.g., hematite) from ancient ocean floor sediments
  • Green = metamorphism under basic conditions (chlorite formation, epidote)
  • White = relatively unaltered pure limestone deposits
  • Yellowish/Brown = inclusions of limonite (iron hydroxide)
  • Gray/black: Inclusions of carbon particles

The veins in the marble form, for example, when pure calcite recrystallizes in cracks and crevices during metamorphism and stands out from the colored host rock.

Tasks for EarthCache loggers

To successfully log this EarthCache, visit the mosque and answer the following questions:

Task 1: Compare marble samples

Find at least three different marble colors. Describe:

  1. Which color dominates on the floor in the entrance area?
  2. How many different colors do you find in total on the floor? Specify the colors! What is the geological history behind this?

Task 2: Analyze the veining (reddish-brown marble)

Observe the reddish-brown marble bases of the columns:

  • In which direction do the white veins run relative to the axis of the column?
    • ☐ Horizontal, wavy bands
    • ☐ Vertical stripes
    • ☐ Irregular/mixed
    • ☐ Barely visible veins
  • Why do you think the veins point in this direction or have no direction at all? (Brief explanation)

Task 3: The Green Marble

Observe the green marble in the mosque! Where is it located?

  • How does the texture differ from that of the white marble?
  • Are the green areas uniformly colored, or do they have darker inclusions?
  • What geological cause might the darker spots have?

Task 4: Take a photo of the mosque from the outside with yourself in it and one of the interior with your feet at the mosque’s entrance (shoes must be removed at the entrance), and upload both. Send your answers to the owner before submitting the log. You don’t have to wait for approval to log—I’ll let you know if there are any issues. Logs without the required photos will be deleted.

Was ist Marmor?

Aufgabe 1: Marmor-Proben vergleichen

Finde mindestens drei verschiedene Marmorfarben.  Beschreibe:

  1. Welche Farbe dominiert am Boden im Eingangsbereich?
