About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More information can be found at the SideTracked Website
We have had the pleasure of finding SideTracked Caches in England, Wales, and Australia. It is high time that Wisconsin has one! Note that the word REALLY in the cache title is the signal that this is not an active train depot.
The city of Barron initially relied on stagecoaches and wagons to connect to the outside world. By 1884, the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie Railway (colloquially known as the "Soo Line") connected Barron to the Twin Cities and Chicago. The depot was completed in 1908 and saw active service for passengers and freight, both long-haul and on local passenger lines such as the Blueberry Line. The demise of passenger travel saw the building sink into neglect, but it has been carefully restored and repurposed! If you are here when the depot is open, stop in to sample the history decorating the interior.
The geocache is NOT on the depot building or grounds, nor is it near the railroad tracks! But you will get a nice view of the depot.
