Stage in the Forest: Openluchttheater Velden
Difficulty: 2 / 5 | Terrain: 2 / 5 | Size: Small / Regular
Description
Welcome to De Turfkoele at the edge of Nationaal Park Maasduinen!
Tucked away under a canopy of trees in Velden lies an open-air theater with a history of post-war resilience and community spirit. Established in 1946 by Chris van Erp and local volunteers as part of the village's reconstruction after WWII, the theater served as a vibrant cultural hub during its early post-war years. After closing in 1951, the stage sat quiet for decades as nature slowly reclaimed the amphitheater.
It wasn't until decades later that dedicated local volunteers cleared away years of growth to restore this historic woodland stage. Today, Openluchttheater Velden hosts outdoor plays, music performances, and community events, seamlessly blending culture with the surrounding forest landscape.
Take a moment to enjoy the tranquil woodland atmosphere before beginning your search.
