This multi-cache is a historic tour of some of the oldest churches
in Chambersbug. They all share something unique with each other. A
very uncommon arrangement with the lessor of the land they occupy.
You may be able to figure this out before you complete the cache,
or you may discover it as you do the cache. But don’t worry if you
don’t figure it out. Whenever I receive an e-mail with the required
verification info, I will send you a link to a page that will give
you all the details.
The posted cache coords will take you to your first stop. You
should be able to find ample parking just west of the waypoint.
While not the original building, the present building is nearly 200
years old. On the east side of the building is a monument. The
inscription is illegible, but you will find a plaque nearby telling
you about it. You will need to add the first year listed to the
lat. below, and the second year listed to the lon. below to
discover your next destination.

Your second stop is not far from the first. You should be able
to visit it without moving your vehicle. When you arrive at the
second location, you should find a blue historical marker just
south of this church, along the sidewalk. It mentions an inventor.
He is in no way related the the common thread of this cache, but
has made a significant contribution to society nonetheless. At the
rear of the church is his grave. Add the year listed on his
headstone to the lat. below and the day of his death and his age to
the lon. below to find your final destination. For the lon., do not
add the two numbers together, but place the digits together to make
a four digit number (if the day is "12" and the age is "34", your
number will be "1234").

This third stop was actually the first of the three to be bound
by this unique agreement, and their sanctuary is the oldest public
building in Chambersburg. In June 2003, they celebrated the 200th
anniversary of its erection. The original lessor lies at rest on
these grounds. Please take a moment or two to visit his grave and
imagine what it might have been like to be the first white settler
to arrive in Franklin County. His name is actually shared by
several of his descendants, but his burial monument will clearly
confirm his identity. To verify your completion of this cache,
add the first two years listed on the south side of his burial
monument and e-mail me their sum. I hope you enjoy this walk
back through history!
