Geocache Description:

Ile de la Lune (or is it du Loon?) cache is located on Squam Lakes Association land. You'll need a boat when the lake's not frozen.

Update, 8/07: This being my first cache, I didn't fully think through the impact of its proximity to the campsite. So that campers and seekers alike may have their privacy, I've moved it to the other end of the island. And while I was out there, I placed a new cache on the island next door: Ile de l'Archer. Here's a trail map for the islands.

Update, 9/06: Several people have contacted me as to the best place to put in with a kayak for this cache. Good information on access to Squam can be found
here. You might also be able to use the location of my Pont et Plage cache. Update 7/12/22: In hopes that a new crop of cachers are headed out this way, I've added some waypoints for lake access to this cache listing.

Here's the SLA creed, in the spirit of which I place this cache:

The Squam Lakes Association (SLA) is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and unique resource values of the lakes and surrounding area. In cooperation with local and state authorities and other conservation organizations, the Association promotes the protection, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region. Since 1904 the Squam Lakes Association has worked to preserve the character of the Squam Lakes.
