For years we drove past this statue and thought it seemed vaguely interesting. Recently we stopped the car and looked more closely. Now it's no longer vaguely interesting. More like... vaguely disturbing.
According to the plaque at the base of this unnerving artwork, it was a gift to the "past, present, and future children of La Cañada/Flintridge". The grateful children of La Cañada/Flintridge apparently chose to leave their gift on this street corner, perhaps in hopes of it being stolen.
But why is such a seemingly innocuous statue so danged disturbing to look at? We don't know. So maybe it's just us. What do you think? We really want to know.
So fire up your GPS, and take the freeway of your choice until the 210 meets the 2. Slow down. Choose an exit. Keep an eye peeled. And see for yourself.
