Geocache Description:

An enchanting walk up the Cedar Ridge Trail over open fields to the Wintergrass Sanctuary.

Park at the junction of Old Albany Post road and Phillipse Brook Rd in a small pull off (N 41 23.701' W 73 54.048'). You will see yellow trail markers on a small silver gate next to a large farm gate. Follow the fence line up, heading for another silver gate. In the next field, you can follow the trail markers along the fence line, or just cut straight up the ridge. Once over the crest you will see a large farm gate and a small silver gate near a house. The trail markers again follow the fence line, down and back up, but it is much nicer just to walk along the ridge line. You go around a point of woods and head for another silver gate in a back field, this one a large one. The woods in the back are the Watergrass Sanctuary, and there lies the cache. It is a 30 cal ammo can with the usual loot. I enjoyed the view at the top of the river, as well as the herd of deer and flock of turkeys sharing the field with the cows. This trail is shown on the NY/NJ Trail Conference Map of Fahnestock Park in the East Hudson Map Set (Trail Map 103).
