So far only very few caches can be found in and around Dresden, one of my favorite cities, which is surprising as with all those high-tech companies on site enough geeks for this sport should be around. To boost the popularity I compiled I tour around the old part of the town and, to make it easier for the international visitors, the description is in English. I hope a (night) caching tour through the Neustadt will follow soon.
You will have to solve a few tasks on your walk through the city. The way will bring you to a plaque and you will have to e-mail me (please do not write the info in the logs) what is written there to log the find of the cache. You can walk the tour with a good map and you need your GPS only to find the plaque at the final stage.
Start at the Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross) at

The church was built between 1764 and 1800 in Baroque and Classicistic style. It makes the home of the Kreuzchor boy’s choir looking back on a more than 700 year old tradition.
Search for the sign shown in picture 1 and set the missing number to A.
Now continue to the (re-)construction site of the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) at the Neumarkt at

The Frauenkirche was erected according to the plans of Georg Bähr between 1726 and 1743 to become the most important Protestant church in Germany. Its characteristic stoned shaped dome, also referred to as stone bell, collapsed on February 15, 1945 after the bomb raids. The ruins were an anti war monument during the GDR period. The reconstruction, financed by private donations and international foundations, makes good progress. The lower part is already in use for church services and concerts.
Above the entrance (with the fading) letter E you will find a large number of window, divided into two groups, and behind the glass you see the stairways. Count the number of rectangular windows, each made out of 6 smaller pieces of glass, giving light to the stairways. This becomes B. Ignore the third round window group on top.

Here you can travel trough the history of Saxony from 1123 to 1904. All rulers are displayed on the 102 meter long mural made out of 24.000 Meißen china tiles.
How many people are walking between Albrecht der Stolze and Dietrich der Bedraengte (C)? Look carefully.

The church with its unique Baroque architecture was built between 1735 and 1755 by Gaetano Chiaveri and Christoph Knöffel. The Hofkirche was christened the Chathedral Sanctissimae Trinitatis (Church of the Holy Trinity) to become the bishop’s residence in 1980.
Count the number of steps in front of the door heading to the Augustusbrücke (D).
To your right is the Semper Opera House.

The Semper Opera House was built between 1871 and 78 according to the plans of Gottfried Semper. The house was completely destroyed in 1945 and reopened in 1985 after extensive reconstruction. It is the only theatre in Germany that bears the name of its architect. The sumptuous interior is best appreciated as part of a tour. The famous acoustics relying on constructive elements only and not on electronic amplifiers can best be enjoyed during a performance.
Look out for Johann. With how many shoes is the horse touching the ground (E)? Count only those with firm ground contact and not the one with the thin metal bar added out of static reasons.

Inside the Zwinger, below the balustrade you see some fountains. In the inner circle you will find four lamps. Count the number of glass windows on one of the lamps (F).
