The 27th of a series of caches planned to be hidden at or near the historic rural schoolhouses of Routt County (RCSH - Routt County School Houses). See the first cache of this series (GC6QQ71) for a complete and updated list of the ones currently available - but this list will continue to grow as there were 96 schools which served Routt County neighborhoods from 1883 until 1960 when the rural districts consolidated.
“Tow Creek” was a small Texaco oil field camp established in this area in 1920. The school at Tow Creek stood about ¼ mile north of current Hwy 40 just about in the middle of the “Morton place” (about in the middle of this long straight stretch of highway),near a bend in their driveway. The school was built in 1933 and closed in 1950 when the oil field camp was abandoned. The school building no longer stands.
