Det finnes mange historier som svirrer rundt ruinene, men de mest populære er om presten Finkehagen,som skal ha hengt seg inne i kirken og går igjen eller om brudeparet som druknet i elven utenfor her og hjemsøker stedet. Det er også en historie om en liten gutt som spøker her. Ivrige spøkelsesjegere forteller om usynlige krefter som kaster deg i bakken, lommelykter som slutter å fungere og at elektronikken i bilen går bananas.
Nes Kirkeruiner ligger på neset der elvene Glomma og Vorma møtes. I førkristen tid var det en offerplass her. Kirken ble bygd som en langkirke i romansk stil på 1100-tallet. Den ble satt i brann av svenskene under syvårs-krigen i 1566, men ble gjenreist og utvidet til korskirke i 1697. I 1854 brant kirken igjen ned, men på grunn av faren for leirras, ble den ikke bygget opp igjen.
I dag samles stadig flere mennesker til gudstjenester, konserter og bryllup på dette storslagne stedet.
Viktig informasjon til besøkende på Nes kirkeruin:
Det er ikke tillatt med ferdsel i bil eller annet kjøretøy ned til Nes kirkeruin på nattestid! I tiden mellom kl 23-07 er bommen nede og da må du gå dit. I vinterhalvåret kan veien i perioder være uframkommelig med kjøretøy, på grunn av is eller snø. All ferdsel vil da være på eget ansvar.
Veien ned til ruinen er en vakker vei i et nydelig kulturlandskap. Anbefales som en fin gåtur, ruinen er døgnåpen, i all slags vær og tid!

There are many stories relating to activities in this old church ruins, the most popular are the stories about a priest Finkenhagen,which hanged himself in the church and is haunting the ruins and the story about a couple which drowned in the river close by and haunt the area. There is also a story about a little boy ghost. Ghost hunters have experienced strange powers on the site which supposedly throws people to the ground, causes flashlights to stop functioning and causes car electronics to break down.
The Nes church ruins are located on the spot where the rivers Glomma and Vorma meet. In pre-Christian time there was a sacrificial site where the ruins are today. The church was built in as a "long-church" in Roman style during the 10th century. The church was burnt down by the Swedes during the 7-year war in 1566 and consequently rebuilt as cross-shaped church in 1697. In 1854 the church burnt down again, this time it was not rebuilt due to the danger of subsidence.
The magnificent site is today often used for church services, concerts and weddings.
Important information to visitors:
No cars or other vehicles are allowed on site at night! The road is closed between 2300 and 0700, by which time access can only be made by foot. During the winter the road can be closed for vehicles due to snow and ice. All entry to the site is at your own risk.
The road leading to the site is going through a beautiful landscape and is recommended as an enjoyable trek. The ruins are open 24 hours a day in all kinds of weather!
