Geocache Description:

A few years back constructon started on an East River Esplanade, to stretch from 34th street North, in front of the United Nations. Unfortunately new security concerns of recent years caused the construction to be cut short on both the South and North ends. As we place the cache, there is only 400 feet of a beautiful Esplanade built, cut off at either end by construction fences.

We like to sit here and watch all forms of transportation go by; Cars, Helicopters, Ferries, Sea planes, Tug boats, Buses, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, and feet. Sometimes we see diplomats going to the United Nations arriving by some of these methods.

There is a formal path into the park from the West, but even though quiet, WATCH FOR CARS AT ALL TIMES while walking into the park and OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LIGHTS. The park is part of the Manhattan 'Green Belt' bicycle path. The park and the cache are wheelchair accessible. You cannot access this park or the cache from the highway.

The cache is a cylindrical container, the only shape that would fit in this particular hiding place. It is well secured and may require a good tug to retrieve. It has been wrapped in special "camoflage" tape to match it's hiding place. You will need to bring a pen, both to remove the log and then sign it. Please sit down on a bench and consider how to do this without damaging the log.

The coordinates are very precise, but one step the wrong way and you will loose reception. A large slab of rock and glass above (the United Nations) can cause some GPS bounce.

PLEASE PUSH CACHE CONTAINER ALL THE WAY INSIDE THE HIDING PLACE!! This is a high muggle traffic area, it will quickly attract attention if left hanging out.

Thanks to Alan2 for pointing us in the right direction.
