11th May - May day in the Community Woodland
The session is set for 3 hours, but only me and the ranger have to stay till the end!
Please do feel free to pop along and only stay for as long as you want.
Parking: Parking is available at the main entrance to Horsbere Reserve (see waypoint Parking area / Meet-up space).
Where: Meet up 09:30 by the main gates to Horsbere Reserve where we will collect tools and make our way to the Community Woodland, see headline coordinates.
What: Join us as we give some much-needed care to the now very tall trees! The deer keep rubbing their antlers against the tree bark and so the trees are calling out May Day asking for help! We will be removing guards from the larger trees, encourage others to grow tall and straight and safeguarding others with bunny guards to protect their bark.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance. We ask you to bring your own gloves and if you have then shears and loppers. Don't worry if you don't have them as the ranger will have a supply.
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
Please do bring a drink as it can be thirsty work.
