Scaffold Knot Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no response from the cache owner to my previous note, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email) within the next 30 days, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small lock&lock container hidden in John R. Miller Park.

The scaffold knot is a sliding loop based on the double overhand knot. It is a great cinch knot where the application calls for security... However, it will prove difficult to untie after holding high loads.

  1. Begin by forming a loop.
  2. Now wrap the working end around the standing part. This is what will form the strangle knot (aka double overhand) tied around the rope.
  3. Cross the working end towards the front of the loop, and wrap it behind the standing part...
  4. And also bring it behind the other strand of the loop. The standing part of the rope should have an X surrounding it.
  5. Finally, take the working end and insert it thru the X so it exits away from the loop.
  6. Finally, take the working end and insert it thru the X so it exits away from the loop.
  7. Pull on the strangle knot part to tighten; adjusting it to be as loose or tight as needed which will make the loop slide easier or harder.
