Since the Williams Fire has forced the closure of the Angeles National Forest we are now forced to search only for Suburban/Urban Caches (S/UC's) in our area. This virtual cache won't get you out on the trail but hopefully it will enhance your cultural and historical understanding of our local trails.
The site of this cache is revered by Sierra Madre locals as the gateway to the Mount Wilson Trail. Sierra Madrians have always felt a great pride in "The Trail", its history and the history of the people who were a part of it during the Great Hiking Era.
So, since this is a virtual cache it's gonna be easy, right? Well yes and no. Finding the location is no problem, HOWEVER, in order to get credit for this cache there are five questions you must answer. The only time you can be assured that you can find those answers is from 10:00 am to noon on most Saturdays....
So why is Bud Ugly being so stubborn about a simple little virtual cache? The answer to that is that he wants you to visit this place and really get a feel for the local history rather than just dash by and bag another log. For that reason also, I will not ramble on about the history of Lizzie's, that my friends is for you to discover!
