Geocache Description:

CME HEADER

The Community Celebration @ Crosswinds Marsh event was held on October 24, 2020 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Geocaching. The original plan was to hold the event in connection with one of the public events presented by the Crosswinds Marsh Interpretive Center during the spring. Because of the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) situation, the event was canceled, and the Anniversary Celebration was postponed. This cache is one of 12 that was placed in connection with the celebration. The theme of the series is Nature Events Through the Months at Crosswinds.

November: Recharging the watershed
Although winter doesn’t officially start until December, typically the snow has already arrived in November. The migratory birds have departed, the ground has frozen, and all things seemed to have slowed down to a hult. This is true for most, but not all. The watershed is coming back to life at this time! Summertime typically drains wetlands more than we think. Water evaporates in the hot summer sun and rain slows down and we lose a great amount of water, but in the winter it is recharged! With the ground frozen and unable to soak in water, snow piles up, but come spring all that stored water melts and fills in our watersheds.

Bonus Cache
There is a 13th Geocache in this series called a Bonus Cache. The only way to obtain the coordinates of this geocache is to solve this puzzle: The coordinates are N 4A BC.DEF W 8G HI.JKL where the numbers associated with letters will be found in the covers of each of the cache containers. Be sure to make note of these as you find each of the caches. For a link to the Bonus Cache click HERE
