The Kid Kick Cache Returns! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

HaLiJuSaPa: Major changes to the area before all the big snows had me in debate about an equally good hiding site for this cache. Now the snow is gone but I don't think anything changed with the makeup of the area, so I'm going to open this one up for someone else to come up with a good hiding place. I do intend to replace the cache I have at the other end of this park though. Thanks for all who found this cache on its long run.

Geocache Description:

Hidden by the kids for kids (and kids at heart). A cache filled with items kids can have fun with, but a wonderful walk in the woods for cachers of all ages.

This is the rebirth of a cache we adopted and moved back in our early days of caching in 2006 (GCZADN): (visit link) After 2 years, the location had an issue that made it hard to re-hide the cache for months and forced us to reluctantly archive it, but nature has since resolved itself in the last year and a half and we are bringing it back with a smaller container that should be easier to retrieve and place back.

If possible bring a child with you when searching for this small lock-and-lock and let them enjoy it (they may need a little help with the final find itself though). If you really can't find a child, just be a kid at heart yourself, this is actually a very nice stroll in the woods for grownups as well.

Anyone who found our old cache is welcome to re-find this one and get a new smiley. There is a brand new deck of playing cards for the FTF!

The easiest way (especially if you're bringing kids) to find this cache is to park at the waypoint given below. Note that the guardrails are there to stop entrance by motorized vehicles, these woods are free and open to the public. Then it is a short 500-600 foot or so walk to the cache. Alternatively, for a little more challenge, you can enter these woods at the other end at Gramatan Ave. and take a nice, generally level hike of about 1/3 mile to the cache site.

We strongly encourage you to take the entire trail and explore this wooded oasis in a major urban/suburban area. To encourage further, we have a 2nd cache in this park (GCZDN3): (visit link) which is part of our "Diamond in the Rough" series of caches in "wilderness preserves" in urban locales. Our team founder used to ride his BMX bike here quite often back when he was a kid and we hope others enjoy this great spot as much as we do. Have fun and enjoy!
