As a pilot and aviation enthusiast, I find this location tobe quite
humbling. It is, according to its builders, a shrine to aviation,
honoring the pioneers of flight. Several of these pioneers are
actually buried at the portal.
Go to the portal during regular hours and find the plaque
honoring the first civilian student and instructor for the Wright
Brothers (the first person buried at the portal, by the way). Note
his full name and date of death, and email this information to
me.
DO NOT POST YOUR LOG ENTRY UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED MY
PERMISSION. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS POLICY WILL RESULT IN YOUR LOG
ENTRY BEING DELETED. I did not want to take this route, but
recent events have forced my hand. Thanks for your
understanding!
A few requests/caveats: Be mindful of your surroundings and keep
in mind the solemnity of the location. Drive slowly, act
respectfully, and maintain decorum.
