Geocache Description:

Horns of Hattin is a volcano off the Galilee that operated 3 million years ago. It is 326 meters above sea level. Its name is because of the two peaks whose shape remotely reminds of rays.

Near the mountain is the Tomb of Nabi Shu'aib of the Druze community. The mountain is famous mainly because of the famous battle that took place on the mountain leg. In 1187, the Crusader armies and Salah a-Dayan's army fought.
Salah a-Dayan's army won a sweeping victory that marked the end of the Crusader kingdom in Israel.

The mountain top has spectacular views, you can see the Golan Heights, Gilad, Galilee, Carmel and Samaria. The mountain is declared a national park, but the place is not well kept and tidy except for a few trails.

The mountain climbing road is suitable for any vehicle.
Notice the entrance to the trail through Highway 77 for westbound travelers only. Turn right into the industrial zone in front of the Galilee, and immediately after the descent from Route 77 turn sharply right into the dirt road. There is no other option and those who miss the dirt road turn should make a big turn to get there.

The cache is located at the eastern end of the valley overlooking the valley and Mount Arbel.
