BriGuyNY: Laying this one to rest, and for good reason too! It seems that the park has been reopened, with new modifications to the landscape, opening up a pleasant lakeside experience for all. I placed this cache 5 years ago with the hope that this day would come, and now it has. The cache has served its purpose (and gone missing), so now I'm releasing the space to make room for anyone who wants to have at it and set up something better.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Meahagh Park!

Closed to the public and abandoned for quite a few years now, this park used to stand as a recreational area for the Town of Cortlandt. All of the equipment has been removed and although there are records of planning for a revitalization movement, they are all very back-dated and currently the effort is dormant. Luckily, the view of Lake Meahagh is enjoyable regardless of how the park appears to be, which is why I am bringing you here, to enjoy the view and imagine what it used to be, or maybe inspire this town to clean up the act and bring back an awesome town park.

As for the cache, it is a camo match stick holder. There is street parking available at the listed waypoint. You do not need to enter the park to retrieve this one. I hope you enjoy your visit to Lake Meahagh and the park that once resided here.
