About the Container
You are looking for a silver bison tube. It is too small to hold travel bugs or trade items. Please bring your own pen. The container is fixed in place. You'll have to unscrew it and leave the top attached. Please don't try to pull it loose. You won't be able to put it back.
About the Location
It is not necessary to go into the trees. This container will be in plain sight when you're standing next to it.
This section of the old Chicago & North Western rail line was converted to a bike path in 2015. The rails had been in place for more than a century and the surrounding neighborhood grew up around them. There was never a reason for people to get to the rails from the street, so the Parks Department must have needed to add entry points wherever they could. This is one example.
Below you to the south-west you can see the service area for a Ford and Lincoln dealership. You may be able to hear their pneumatic wrenches.
