This cache has been archived.

Blue Crow Expedition: This one was missing when I went to remove it. It was a good hiding place back when I started, but the area changed a lot over time.

Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series on the Oak Leaf Trail.

About the Container

You are looking for a silver bison tube. It is too small to hold travel bugs or trade items. Please bring your own pen. The container is fixed in place. You'll have to unscrew it and leave the top attached. Please don't try to pull it loose. You won't be able to put it back.

About the Location

It is not necessary to go into the trees. This container will be in plain sight when you're standing next to it.

This section of the old Chicago & North Western rail line was converted to a bike path in 2015. The rails had been in place for more than a century and the surrounding neighborhood grew up around them. There was never a reason for people to get to the rails from the street, so the Parks Department must have needed to add entry points wherever they could. This is one example.

Below you to the south-west you can see the service area for a Ford and Lincoln dealership. You may be able to hear their pneumatic wrenches.

About the Series

The cache is part of the Oak Leaf Trail series. For information about the whole series, including tips about how to plan your approach, please see the listing for Oak Leaf Trail 01.

Parking

The nearest public street parking is about 1,200 feet away on Kendall Avenue.

You can park at the red circle and follow the orange path over to the trail.

Permission

Permission to place this geocache was granted by the Milwaukee County Parks Department. Permit 497.
