Geocache Description:

The 22nd of a series of caches planned to be hidden at or near the historic rural schoolhouses of Routt County (RCSH - Routt County School Houses).  See the first cache of this series (GC6QQ71) for a complete and updated list of the ones currently available - but this list will continue to grow as there were 96 schools which served Routt County neighborhoods from 1883 until 1960 when the rural districts consolidated.

This small summer school was part of the Hayden District (#2) and was built in 1915 near the homestead of Victor Sjostrom on Rock Spring Creek just northwest of this cache.   The school was a white frame building with green trim.  A teacherage was built in 1921 but by 1933, the district voted to allow financial aid for students to board in town to attend school resulting in the closure of the school.   The building was moved over the ridge to the east of here and is a residence on CR 76.
