The Giving Tree Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

BriGuyNY: Regretfully archiving this. The tree is being torn down, and the fencing has been removed. The lot is under renovation for a new construction project. The legacy of this old tree, and the stories of which it partook, are now a distant memory.

This was technically my first cache hide over 10 years ago. Sad to see it go after all that time. The original location was inside a tree hole, but when ‘no trespassing’ signage appeared (after the bank went out of business), I moved it to the perimeter fence. Thanks to a curious muggle, I learned that the container was recovered during construction.

There is no point in me holding this real estate any longer. It provided me with some great moments during my youth, and likely the same to countless others who sat under its shade during a hot summer day, or simply drove by while admiring its beauty any time of year.

The Giving Tree has given so much, and now it will be put to rest. Thanks to all who visited this magnificent place throughout the life cycle of this hide.

Geocache Description:

Located here amongst all the sprawling change and growth in downtown Central Valley is something that will always stay the same.

When I was younger growing up in this town my father would take my sister and I out on bike rides from our house to this spot, exactly 1 mile from beginning to end. We'd get a snack at the store across the street and sit here to eat on warm summer days just watching life travel by. Now that I'm older, suburbia has sprawled, but this small lot has always remained the same.

You are looking for a small snap-lid container. Possible room for a geocoin or two, but you'll need to BYOP. Also there are lots of muggles all around you. This is downtown main street material, so please be stealth. I've structured the hide spot with a few mother nature support devices so that the container should not fall out of reach. If it doesn't seem stable, please make it so before you leave, and be sure the container is out of sight. Parking is available behind the bank.

Thanks for visiting, and happy caching!

Congrats on FTF: brian_b
