WHAT DOES OUR CITY LOOK LIKE FROM
BEHIND THE GIANT HOLLYWOOD SIGN?
Here is your chance to see Hollywood and the LA basin -- as well as Glendale and Burbank -- from a dramatic hilltop site.
The cache can be approached from a couple of directions; a map will show you a route from Lake Hollywood Drive that is a couple of miles shorter than my route - but you will miss some great scenery.
For the longer, more scenic route, start in Griffith Park in the parking lot at the very end of Canyon Drive (north from Franklin). Follow the fire road up until it dead ends into the Mulholland fire road. Go west until you come to the paved road and take it up toward the radio towers and the Hollywood sign on Mt. Lee.
Taking my longer route, this is 2.9 miles each way with a 1500-foot ascent. This route also takes you close to the Batman's Batcave and the Cub Scout 351 caches. The first stage of the DOOWYLLOH multi-cache is listed as near this cache site.
