The Birds of Crosswinds - A Geocache Series
This Geocache is one of a series of 12 geocaches that was launched in association with Crosswinds Marsh annual Hobby Day and Birds of Crosswinds Geocache event on August 21, 2021. Each of the cache containers has a unique code in the container cover. This code may be entered into an online form. The theme of each geocache in the series will be that of one of the over 100 bird species that have been observed in Crosswinds.
Bald eagle: Known as the national emblem of the United States and an important spiritual symbol for Native Americans, this bird is special to all. With a bright white head and up to seven-foot wingspan, this bird is hard to miss. Crosswinds had a mating pair for roughly 25 years, but 2020 seems to have been their last nesting year. The young from previous years have been spotted around the park recently, so be on the look for a new nesting pair this winter!
The cache: The cache is a medium-sized lock-n-lock hidden along the musklrat trail

No fires
No bikes / ATVs / personal watercraft
No swimming or ice fishing
Dogs must be leashed
No alcohol or illegal substances
No camping
Fishing in designated areas only
Collecting of plants & animals prohibited
Park only at N 42° 05.744' W 83° 26.552'
All Geocachers must follow the above rules.
Crosswinds Marsh is open from DAWN to DUSK. Admission is FREE.
This cache has been placed with the permission of Wayne County Parks. Permit 2021-12 has been submitted and is on file at the park office.
