WELCOME TO THE OCATT!
'OCATT' stands for
Old
Croton
Aqueduct
Tribute
Trail
This is a tribute trail for all geocachers who live and/or
geocache within the confines of Westchester County in the great
state of New York! This series spans over 30 miles, from
Croton’s Reservoir Dam to NYC’s High Bridge. Please
read the following information to ensure a positive experience with
your journey.
***************************************************************
All caches are accessible during any season and they are physically
located along, but not on, the actual OCA.
***************************************************************
Each geocache in this series was placed with utmost respect to the
OCA, nearby home owners, and the potential for muggles.
***************************************************************
The trail is generally a 1.5 (flat/unpaved) terrain, although the
listed ratings are adjusted based on how difficult it will be once
you break away from it.
***************************************************************
Should you journey the OCA in its entirety, you will be presented
with a generous blend of rural, suburban, and urban
developments.
***************************************************************
All containers, aside from a select few that happen to be custom
fabrications, are micro test tubes. None are simply placed for all
to see; every container has been handled with special care, hidden
and camouflaged as a traditional geocache.
***************************************************************
If you are looking for a quick P&G numbers crunch like other
mega-series runs, this isn't it.
***************************************************************
Should you find difficulty in your search, I have provided a hint
to be used at your own discretion for each listing, although you
are encouraged to do without it.
***************************************************************
To extract the log from each geocache container, you will need to
use a pair of tweezers or needle-nose pliers.
***************************************************************
There may be thorns in some places, as well as the potential for
ticks in a few others, so it is recommended to come prepared.
***************************************************************
Everything within the standard Groundspeak Disclaimer applies
here.
***************************************************************
This is a very long trail with multiple parking options, so you are
on your own for the most part. Depending on the listing I will do
my best to advise where exactly to go, although the preferred
option is to travel as much of it as you can without driving to
each intersection.
***************************************************************
Be sure to check out other caches nearby this trail, as there are
many that will be worth your while.
***************************************************************
GOOD LUCK
H2"O"
Hailing from southern Westchester, and an active geocacher since
December 2004, H2"O" is a husband/wife team that, at the time of
this cache's placement, has the most finds in the entire county!
Being of a celebrity status does not seem to affect them much as
they are one of the most friendly caching couples you'll meet and
simply out there to just have fun. Isn't that what it's all about?
As a cacher once suggested in regards to H2"O", "Who doesn't
love H2"O" caches?" Unfortunately for me, this OCATT came into
conflict with a new H2"O" cache in nearby Lenoir Preserve, so right
away I knew who to dedicate the unclaimed "OCATT #93" to. It's not
all about the numbers, and we all know this, so here's to you H2"O"
for all that you have given to us here in the lands of Westchester
and beyond. Thank you for being here and providing continued
enjoyment for all who tote GPSr's looking for containers in the
woods!
