Listed coordinates are for the "Naturalists Gate." One of the gated entrances to Central Park. This is one of the few of the gates NOT named by Olmsted and Vaux, the park's designers. The cache is not there, but is a short walk away.
Unlike the other gates the name of the Naturalists Gate is not inscribed into the stone wall, but rather is on a brass plaque nearby. It reads "This gate is dedicated to the thousands who have here entered Central Park to study nature under the sponsorship of The American Museum Of Natural History."
Naturalists are students and scholars of nature. The explorers who discover new species, the scientists who define taxonomy, or even just the birdwatchers who track the birds in Central Park. And this cache is dedicated to them.
Good Luck!
