Geocache Description:

QUB Mountaineering Club Mournes Hut

A little bit of a trip down memory lane for me....

When I was a young(ish) lad just starting University I joined the Mountaineering Club at Queens - they have a hut/cottage in the Mournes which provided a great base for exploring the hills both walking, climbing and for some, mountain biking. It was always good to know there was a dry bed for the night without having to suffer leaky tents. Many a night we would spend recounting the days activities before retiring at a sensible hour to wake at sunrise the next day refreshed and ready to head to the hills again....

Actually that's not quite true..... we WERE students after all so mostly the weekends involved more drink than climbing but we did try to venture into the hills at some point.... Anyway, I had some great times here and I was pleased to see that the cottage was refurbished a few years ago and is still being used by QUBMC. It seems a bit more civilised now than I remember - Fresher's weekend was always entertaining as you explained to newcomers that, "No, there aren't any showers...... or toilets.... or anywhere to plug in your hairdryer...."

And the cache name..... Well you just had to be there...... ;)

The cache is a small tablock box with a few swaps - there is no need to disturb or touch any stones in the wall!
