You should probably come here via the nearby traditionals "Verdant Valleys" and "The Crags", in that order. Or you may be able to get here from another trail in the Mount Alexandra Reserve but I have no information on that.
When I was researching placing caches in Colo Vale recently I bumped into a friendly mountain biker who told me "if you go up Colo Road, onto Springside Road and then walk about 3km there is a lookout". Armed with only that information and a printout of Google Maps, my friend Michael and I came out this way to see what we could find. After finding the two excellent lookout spots nearby (now the sites of two traditional caches) I was keen to make this further 500M-or-so trek to the end of this raised ridge.
It turns out that this third spot is not much of a lookout after all, and doesn't have much in the way of distinguishing features apart from a table-sized rock which looks a bit like a dragon's head. However the walk here was a nice extension of the trail, with slightly more challenging terrain and well worth the extra time and effort. I wouldn't recommend it during strong winds, and along the way to GZ there are unfenced cliffs.
If you come here from the "The Crags" traditional nearby, there is a short rocky descent and then you are into fairly open scrub. There are traces of a trail sometimes and you may occasionally see a yellow marker. But I suspect this part of the reserve isn't really used or maintained much and there doesn't seem to be much mention of it online.
You are looking for a 400ml sistema. There was a pen at time of placement but you should probably bring one anyway. Please make sure you replace the container out of casual view.
