In 1982 I had the opportunity, for little money - I think it was about 900 DM - to buy a Peugeot 304 that was getting on in years, was a bit rusty and slightly dented. It was nice driving, a trip to Sardinia really comfortable. And the dashboard light was heavenly as we stood on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda beach and turned the car's cassette radio up to full volume during Meat Loaf's 'Paradise by the Dashboard Light'.
The fact that the song was five years old at the time - Meat Loaf recorded it in 1977 - didn't bother us. Still nice to listen today:
