[ENG] The Roela cone dryer was built in 1927. After the Land Reform of 1920, there were 4 state-owned cone dryers in Estonia. This, however, was not enough to cover the need for seeds in the state forests. In 1925, Estonia faced pine seed failure, seeds had to be bought from Finland. As a result, the General Government of State Forests started establishing a network of cone dryers.
On 6 May2008, the State Forest Management Centre (RMK) opened a restored cone dryer in Lääne-Viru County, which will be operating as a museum. NB! Please do not put the cache into the plastic bag, just lay the bag on the cache. [EST] Pärast 1925. aastal Eestit tabanud männiseemneikaldust asus riigimetsade peavalitsus rajama käbikuivatite võrgustikku ning 1927-1928 rajati see peamiselt kuuseseemne saamiseks ka Roelasse – toona moodsaimana Eestis. Käbid pandi trumlitesse, mida tuli käsitsi ringi ajada. Üks trumlitäis pidi kuivama kolm päeva, kuni käbid avanesid ja seemned kätte saadi. Kümme trumlit on ka praegu hoone esimese korruse laes olemas, samuti on alles ahi, mille abil kuivatamine toimus. Vanas käbilaos on väljas ülevaatlik näitus käbikuivati ajaloost, teisel korruse ruumides saab oma tegevusi korraldada külaselts. Aarde juurest mööda metsateed edasi liikudes jõuad vaatetornini, mida on ka suurelt teelt näha. Karp sisaldab logiraamatut, pastakat, geopeituse juhendit ja veidi nänni. NB! Palun ärge pange aaret kilekotti, vaid asetage kott sellele peale!
