ARTEMIS:
Artemis is the twin of Apollo, the god of music, medicine, and light. She is known for being proud, and fiercely independent. Symbols associated with her are the crescent moon, hunting dogs, and the wild. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt, all things wild and untamed, light, the moon, chastity, and the protectress. When she was young, she asked her father Zeus for only three things: a magic bow and arrow like her brother, hunting dogs to keep her company out in the wilderness, and to always remain single. Zeus granted his beloved daughter all of her wishes, and since that time she has been seen as the wild, and freedom.
About our school:
The Riverside School is a premier day school for grades 2-8, comfortably situated in a historical landmark in the village of Lyndonville. The mission of The Riverside School is to develop active learners, patient leaders, and engaged citizens in a supportive community. We were founded in 1981 and have a proud tradition of enthusiastic students, dedicated faculty, and involved parents. Our mascot is the Heron because we believe the animal that students observed on the property of the school during its founding years demonstrates the values of our community.
