Geocache Description:

Cache is a small 4X4 container with logbook and small prize for FTF. NO PENCIL. As of 4/18/09 the area around GZ is very muddy, so be prepared and watch the kids..

This cache is on the lower Bellows Pipe Trail in the Greylock Glen area in Adams. It can be attacked from both the trailhead at the end of Gould Rd. and Thiel Rd., however I was informed the Thiel Rd. parking area is now barricaded. The trailhead on the Thiel Rd. side is still accessible by foot, bicycle, etc.. (Updated 11/29/13).

As you walk from either direction you'll see the rusted remains of what was supposed to be a four-star ski & golf resort in the mid 1970's. Ski lifts, snow-making outlets and light towers are now part of the re-growing forest. The developer was counting on Massachusetts to legalize casino gambling to help fund the Glen project. When gambling was voted down, the project went bankrupt and was halted immediately. The ponds are the only remaining landmarks of the 18-hole golf course. (In its prime, The PGA expressed interest in holding a major tournament on the course).

I placed the cache near a structure that puzzled me, as well as the two other cachers that were with me when we found it. Was it a well for the snow making machines? A shelter? A foundation of some sort? WHAT IS IT?

In your logs, please include what you think it is. If you KNOW what it is, how do you know? Hopefully this will be a fun cache for all. Good luck and happy caching!

CONTRATS TO DAVEDEL FOR THE FTF!!
