Simplicity Five: Herring River Cache
. Update August 21st, 2023: This is a simple cache along the Herring River in Harwich. The hard part is getting there, but if you have a kayak, it's just an easy half mile paddle from the suggested launch. (It's only rated a 5 because you need a boat.) There are many ways to approach the cache but I suggest you do the last 50 feet from the East and avoid the poison ivy and thick brush at the south end of the hammock. I set this wearing shorts and flip flops so it's not too rugged (but check out Hipointer's adventure below...). There is now a large classic waterproof cache on site, loosely tethered. Once you've found the cache, there are still miles of river to explore...These folks had a good time doing that: see Herring River
